What Inspired Bishop Dwight Reed to Dedicate His Life to Humanity?

Bishop Dwight Reed
People can say a lot, and they always do. Everyone has his or her opinion, their experiences, and their likes and dislikes. We come across people, and their character or lifestyle is not what we want it to be, and we make a judgment based on one incident or what we saw the most. However, the real character of a person is far more than what meets the eye. What we usually overlook is that each person has a story, a narrative of experiences, decisions, principles, and silent wars that other people are not in possession of.

One of such people is Bishop Dwight A. Reed, whose life cannot be explained by a few words or a superficial opinion. His mission lies in empathy, religion, and a strong urge to make people around him feel better. The question to ask ourselves is why he took the path of becoming a servant of people, and we have to go deeper than what we assume and find out what was in his heart behind his mission.

Compassionate Childhood Environment

Bishop Dwight Reed grew up in an atmosphere of service since his early years. Being raised in an atmosphere in which he had the opportunity to see how his parents were friendly to others, he could observe their welcoming hugs every single day. Both his parents, Bishop Jeremiah Reed and his mother, Dr. Willie, were renowned for their selfless acts of kindness, helping others without expecting anything in return. This is where he was moulded. It taught him that being a true believer does not only talk, but also does. He was the beneficiary of the presence of his parents, as they gave back to the community positively and consistently.

Selecting a Ministry at an Early Age

He already felt a call to ministry by the time his teens was in their late teens. He entered the preaching field at a time when the vast majority of the youth were still undecided about their direction to take. He was not pressured or expected to make the decision. It was the result of noticing the plights around him and his desire to do something significant. He desired to lead people, console them, and offer hope to them when they were lost.

Education Enforced His Purpose

Bishop Dwight Reed grew up, and as an older man, educated himself and tried this calling through experience. He pursued theology not only to acquire degrees but also to get to know more about human nature. He studied counseling, leadership, and community development- skills which he used later to develop programs that served practical ends. To him, education never concerned status. It was a means of making others better.

Honoring a Legacy of Service to the Family

The other significant source of inspiration is the fact that the family has a long history of community work. He lived in a family where the purpose of life is to serve others, hence giving him a sense of responsibility. Being the leader of the church is not merely a job to him; it is an obligation to carry on with the values that he was entrusted with by his parents.

A Life Driven by Purpose

Regardless of the challenges and criticism, which occasionally follow the life of people in the limelight, Bishop Dwight Reed has not wavered in his mission. His narration is not perfect. It is concerning commitment, steadfastness, and a heart that opts kindly even when the world has gone noisy.

Ultimately, the reason why Bishop Dwight Reed devoted his life to the human race is quite simple: he was raised in an environment of love, made the decision to serve at an early age, and every day has been serving that purpose.
