The Impact of Dwight A. Reed on Iowa’s Largest African American Church

  Dwight A. Reed is the pastor of Christ Apostolic Temple, the largest African American church in the state of Iowa. He accepted the pastoral leadership in 2017, following the path laid by his father.  Since he became the pastor, Reed has been striving to ensure the church and the community are flourishing. This blog will discuss how he has made an impact by creating programs that will help the community members in need and make the church more accessible to the community.  Background and Leadership Transition  Dwight A. Reed had a strong background that well-prepared him for his leadership role before becoming a pastor. He is an Okmulgee, Oklahoma, native, and he grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, where he attended public schools and pursued courses in theology in preparation for his church involvement.  In 2017, he was appointed bishop of Christ Apostolic Temple when his father, Bishop Jeremiah Reed, passed along the keys of the church.
